Let's not forget how Obama really feels about Great Britain. His father was an anti-colonialist who was tortured by them. The first thing he did was to decline an offer to keep the bust of Churchill (a loaned gift after 911 worth $350k) and sent it, packed in a box, back to them (snub).

Even if it was a state wedding I seriously doubt he'd attend.

Not "royal"?? They "rich guy" getting married is a PRINCE. That is the definition of royalty.
If he wants to call himself a prince that's up to him.
Here in the United States he's just a kid from a rich family. We were smart enough to get rid of kings and queens, princes and princesses a long time ago.

I'm curious what you all think of this. I have heard a few theories. I heard it's because it is not a state event. Also, maybe this was a snub because Obama had the Churchill bust removed from the White House. Or maybe because Michelle Obama made the mistake of putting her arm around the Queen when she met her.
Because he has no personal relationship with them. Possibly, they are still stinging from 0bama's sharp rebuke. Less then one month in office, as president, and 0bama returned the gift the UK gave us; the bust of Winston Churchill.
A bust of the former prime minister once voted the greatest Briton in history, which was loaned to George W Bush from the Government's art collection after the September 11 attacks, has now been formally handed back.
A better question would be - why were so many Arab dictators invited? King of Saudi, Prince of Bahrain, etc., when none of the major European leaders were invited. What's up with that?
