It delays the inevitable but assures the old get their cut. Cutting off everyone would be the wiser choice, or raising it to 80 or 85. Life expectency is poised to decline with a greatly reduced standard of living. Most young people won't see the amount of money the old people today will. The youth are going to feel a great amount of resentment towards old people as the old have squandered their standard of living.

You assume that they are not chipping in on the premiums.

I think this is a good thing. I would like to see Social Security come up for a NEW vote. Why should FUTURE generations be held hostage to a govt program that they did not even vote for?

Old people need to get it through their head that the money is GONE. You cannot ask the youth to replenish the spent money for them, as you will build MASSIVE resentment in doing so. The reason why the money is spent is because the old people failed to elect conservative people into office, and instead had LBJ, Carter, Reagan (not a fiscal conservative but a deficit spender), HW Bush, Clinton, Bush Jr. and Obummer.

Bush made it much bigger and more socialist than JFK.

Let's not forget that "America's greatest generation" is demanding their FDR handout they spent a long time ago.

Social Security should be changed to an insurance plan that is needs based. You dont' qualify until you are UNABLE to work any longer. No more retirement.

Remember the scene in "Driving Miss Daisy" where the one maid died while preparing dinner.

SS will unfortunately be there for old farts, but in the end it'll buy them dog food and not much more, thanks to inflationary policies by ObamaBushBernankeGeithner.

If it's not their debt why are they holding promissory notes in their wallets, and pocketbooks, that say "this note is legal tender for all debts, public and private", or did they miss reading class...

Ohh, they probably don't carry those notes around, they probably have credit cards and everyone knows that's not real money so it's certainly not debt...

Of course, it makes a lot of sense blaming the people with an education for our problems...

Instead of looking for scapegoats, why not actually solve the problem rationally?
