I was very happy to hear of his death, he certainly got what he deserved, there is no softness in my heart for such a horrible man, but I don't think celebrating in the streets is the best response, we have the opportunity to show more class than the muslim extremists who we all watched on TV celebrating and reveling in the deaths of Americans.
My sentiments exactly.
If we have the decency to give him (Bin Laden) an honorable burial, why not rejoice in private & let it go?
The US is acting kinda barbaric like those Muslim extremeists if you ask me. We're stepping down to their level which is never a good thing to see.
One of my best friends was a tour guide in the south tower. I am thankful the planner of his murder is now dead. Will I throw a party over it? No. Because my friend is still dead. Is it satisfing Justice has been served by bin laden's death? Yes, to a point. But there is still more to be done and more of his kind to be put away and sent to hell with bin laden forever-because I seriously doubt they will change their ways.
We should never celebrate death. That is sure. We should celebrate unity, and resolve but not death. Yes he deserved it, yes we got him, we as a nation supported his murder. That is what celebrating death deserves, and he celebrated the death of many innocents, no excuse in this day of age for such barbarism. Good riddancem, lets move on.... celebrate life and fight for it, that is what we are about!
It's not like I liked the guy (he was who he was - at one point our BFF and then our worst enemy), but it does tend to make Americans look like barbarians. I honestly don't get it. If it had to be done, it had to be done. It was done (although he actually has been dead for years) and enough already.
But chants of USA, USA and celebrating just tell me that there is something seriously wrong with Americans and we're no better than anyone else on this planet - no more evolved, basically savages. I know I am not the only one out there who sees it that way. I know there is at least one other person who does. Anyone here?
Sorry, I can't agree with any of this. For one thing, it's only human nature to rejoice and celebrate when extremely evil people receive their just desserts ... and it's human nature to WANT to see the wrongdoers get theirs in the end. Even the Bible says "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth".
Bin Laden was responsible for not only the attacks on 9/11/01 (which killed thousands of innocent people), he was responsible for many other terrorist attacks prior to that ... including the first WTC bombing in 1993. This guy was a sick & worthless piece of scum, and deserved to be hung from his privates & beaten like a piñata.
The killing of Bin Laden (although more than ten years late) was justified, and the celebrations were simply a reaction by Americans that we finally eliminated the world's most wanted terrorist. I'm sure you would be celebrating too if your family or close friends were killed in one of Bin Laden's terrorist plots. Walk a mile in others' shoes before criticizing.
And where did you get this FACT from...Fox news...Bush...the White Press Briefings...bogus videos of Bin Laden 10 years ago claiming responsibility for 911 and shouting death to America? If those videos and his rants were the only thing that Bush, Obama or the government produced to a Judge in a trial, Bin Laden probably would have been acquitted. And, BTW that's probably THE REAL REASON why our lying government was so quick to dump the body at sea, like a mafia hit.
Bin Laden didn't have a trial. This is America, isn't it? Isn't a man SUPPOSE to be INNOCENT until PROVEN GUILTY? Bin Laden was never tried and the extent of his involvement in 9-11 WAS NEVER PROVEN IN THE COURT OF LAW 9-11.
Now, if you flag waving folks want to sidestep the laws of the land and convict a based upon media reports, video clips , Bush and Rumsfeld accusations and other circumstantial evidence, that's your choice. As for me, I'm sticking with the laws of the land which plainly says that a man is assumed innocent until PROVEN GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW.
Refer back to videos he made and distributed around the world. He bragged about 911. I'm sure people like you made him think of Karl Marx and his reference to "useful idiots".
