Osama Bin Laden Killing Launches Birthers' New "Deather" Conspiracy Theory - The Daily Beast (http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2011-05-05/osama-bin-laden-killing-launches-birthers-new-deather-conspiracy-theory-/?cid=hp:mainpromo4 - broken link)
Can I just have one of the lefties answer this question?
What would you say/believe if Bush claimed to have killed OBL and then refused to release ANY Proof?
Another leftie chiming in. If the same circumstances existed while Bush was president, I would have believed it was OBL and that he was dead. I don't buy into vast conspiracy theories. If you believe "they" (whoever they are) are making this up, then you have to believe that a huge team of people are in on it and all have agreed to keep this giant secret. In my experience, a secret doesn't stay secret for long when dozens of people are in on it.
FWIW, I never believed that Bush or anyone in the U.S. was behind 9/11 for the same reasons.
Do you honestly think a "President of the United States" would fake bin Laden's death?
If Bin Laden wasn't really dead, then what would prevent Bin Laden from appearing in another video, like the ones he appeared in post 9/11?
Try to imagine the effect a video like that would have on Obama's presidency if one were to suddenly surface, with Bin Laden describing events that occurred "after" the date of his own death!
Do you think Obama would risk his entire reputation, his remaining term in office, and his legacy as president by "faking" Bin Laden's death?
Please try to think logically.
The ONLY reason the pictures and videos are being withheld, is to prevent terrorists from using them as reason to kill Americans.
Obama has American lives at stake, and he knows it.
The pictures would trigger emotions and cause anger by Bin Laden supporters, which could result in American deaths abroad.
Obama did the right thing by making it a quick burial at sea, and doing it in a respectable Islamic tradition.
Now Bin Laden's death is behind us, and we no longer have to worry about his spreading terrorist hate for Americans thoughout the Islam world, or his planning new attacks on American targets.
^^^^ that post should be the opening post in a new thread and make it a sticky,
well said and +1.
Well, obama sure has made a clusterfark of what should have been EASY.
Judicial Watch Announces Freedom of Information Act Requests Seeking bin Laden Photos and Videos | Judicial Watch (http://www.judicialwatch.org/news/2011/may/judicial-watch-announces-freedom-information-act-requests-seeking-bin-laden-photos-and - broken link)
Quote:
Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the Department of Defense (DOD) seeking “all photographs and/or video recordings of Osama (Usama) bin Laden taken during and/or after the U.S. military operation in Pakistan on or about May 1, 2011.” The request to the Defense Department was filed yesterday, May 3. An identical request was filed today with the CIA.
Under the Freedom of Information Act, the agencies have 20 business days legally to respond.
He is creating unnecessary controversy.
Even the Left is saying release the photos. I mean, what is more gruesome than watching people jump from 75 stories up?
Stewart then grew slightly more serious when discussing “the Muslim world’s” already prevalent animosity towards the U.S. – something he thinks releasing the photos won’t change – and pointing out that networks in that area of the world, such as AlJazeera, routinely show graphic images of those who have died because of our military efforts, whether by accident or on purpose.
He offered an alternative way the White House could “prove” bin Laden’s death without actually releasing the photos to the public
The president's decision to withhold photographs of the dead Osama bin Laden is only the last in a series of terrible mistakes in the handling of his body.
The president's decision to suppress the remaining photographic evidence is disturbing on many levels.
But why is this president forever second guessing how the rest of the world, particularly the Muslim world, will react? Brave Navy SEALs gave the murdering bastard exactly what he deserved and the rest of the world should know that too.
That's as irrelevant as you saying all the proof you needed that OBL was dead was to see the expressions on the admins faces while they were watching a live feed that never existed.
