Salt Lake City............never driven through such weird, eerie town in my entire life. Stayed one night there and as weird as this sounds I really felt like there was just no presence of "god" in that place. Just an emptiness to how I felt when I was there. I'm not a bible thumping religious person but it was just a very eerie feeling.
LOL...while i wouldn't describe SLC as dangerous, it sure as hell was pretty damn wierd to me. I just don't like the place....it has a strange emptiness to it like you said. I feel the same way in Albuquerque and Denver. Those towns are just feel eerie and lifeless.
I felt pretty unsafe in certain neighborhoods of Hong Kong in the late 80s, there was this one apartment building that was very run down and looked like it belonged in a Mad Max movie.
Ohh born in Philly, and currently live near Camden. Luckily not IN Camden.. but yuck! So so ghetto!! How do these one great and beautiful cities turn hood like that?!?
When I was about 15 I got lost at 3:30 AM in The Bowrey in NYC (a bad place up until the mid eighties). There were witchlike prostitutes everywhere and at every light they would aproach the car. They looked like zombies. It was surreal.
Scariest place for me: a toss up between Wall Street and the penthouse offices of a major Fortune 500 US corporation. those people would slit your throat for a nickel.
Most dangerous place in American cities with but a few exceptions.... whatever road was renamed for Martin Luther King Jr. Not trying to be racist, but it seems like every city I have ever visited or lived in has the worse crime either on or in the neighborhoods right off of MLK blvd or street or ave or whatever. It is rather sad if you think about it.
