^Right to know what? That OBL was shot in the face? Do you need pictoral confirmation that Dick Cheney shot someone in the face or that Bill Clinton got head in the Oval Office? He's dead, get over yourself.

1. For skeptics who don't want to believe, an electronic document will never offer sufficient "proof". We know this very well with the birthers. Anything released over the internet can be said to be Photoshopped, and a conspiracy can always be kept alive by continuously widening the scope to include everyone and his/her grandmother. Just as the birthers will never be satisfied by anything, neither will the deathers.

2. Producing the photographs will be a very tangible, visceral, and effective recruitment tool for terrorists, which will only make our troops' jobs that much harder and more dangerous. Killing the guy alone already incites a lot of anger, but when you basically stick his head on a pole and do an end zone dance in front of it, that's inviting a whole new level of fury - especially when certain groups of people basically revere the guy as a messiah of sorts. It will increase the probability of another 9-11 or worse, and it will also directly contribute to higher levels of US military deaths.

3. Correspondingly, there is no enhancement to our safety or our troops' ongoing missions by releasing the photos. All it theoretically does is satisfy some peoples' curiosity and turn a few skeptics into believers - although again most of those people will remain skeptics anyways. It doesn't fundamentally change anything. The guy is dead.

In short, there is very minimal upside and significant downside to releasing the photos. And there is no need to pander to the desires of some silly skeptics who aren't worth convincing anyways. I would have made the same decision as Obama did, and it has nothing to do with political party affiliations.
Yeah we should just take the government's word for it. That's not a road to failure. Remember when the CIA was ordered to hand over torture pictures? Destroyed. Remember the "heroic" Jessica Lynch that the government told us about? Oh yeah that was bull****. Remember Pat Tillman? The government LIED.

I love how killing OBL, that's NOT going to incite violence, but showing a picture is just going to put it over the top. Give me a break.

I love how you poke fun at "conspiracy theorists." Yeah, because this story is airtight. First, they dump the body off in the ocean immediately. Then they can't show pictures because they're "too gruesome and would incite anger," YET we can show pictures of the other dead bodies? How many different versions of events have we been told? At least 3. Now, conveniently, there was a "blackout" and "malfunction" in the cameras? So that whole epic photo of Barry, Biden, and Hillary in the Situation Room looking on tensely is just BULL****.

It's ironic that you're making fun "conspiracy theorists" yet you buy a weak ass story hook line and sinker without question. Do you always believe everything the government spoon feeds you?

El Oh El. So releasing torture photos and the photos of the other dead bodies is just fine right? Oh yeah, actually KILLING OBL is fine right? No retaliation there right? Get over yourself. I'd rather be a "wingnut" than a gullible government patsy.

This may be off topic.

If we want peace, why do we invaded other people's home? Just because we have the "for peace" sign, it does not mean it is right.

If you neighbors invaded your home and they said they are here to 'protect' you. How would you feel?

After the invention of the camera, historical events have been cataloged by photographs. Osama Bin Laden's death is an important historical event that was photographed. Would the moon landing or JFK assassination have the same lasting effect if it wasn't for the photos and videos involved? And bin Laden's attack on 9-11 was, and still is, shown on TV all the time. It gives me chills when I see it. That was horrific for me.

If Obama didn't want to inflame the Muslim world, he should have never announced bin Laden's death. Once he announced it, he must show the evidence.

The same people who videotape the beheading of a Jew -- and killed him merely because he was Jewish -- are not people worth protecting from gruesome pictures of their leader.

Show the American people the evidence. We deserve to see it for its immense historical significance.

I love when people make arguments like this one, and ignore the fact that the "neighbor" constantly welcomes in and hides the neighborhood bully afer he steals the little kids ice cream money, or the fact that the "neighbor" lets the local thugs hang out in the backyard, which they use as a staging ground for running through other peoples yards vandalizing & stealing peoples stuff.
