I don't know that a lot of folks really denied he was killed. We just wonder why there were 3 accounts of what went down and why they felt the need to dispose of the body so quickly.
Because all those "anonymous" high level folks have inflated egos and can't keep their mouths shut. If they don't know the truth they make up their own.
We've seen this time and time again coming out of DC, both as anonymous and right in front of your face lying to the cameras.

You mean like blabbermouth Joe Biden who "outed" the Navy SEALS? When will HE be brought up on charges like Scooter Libby?

The stated reason for disposing of the body in that manner was to comply with Muslim custom of buriel before sunset of the second day (although I'm guessing not a heck of of a lot of Muslims get buried at sea). I don't think anyone involved actually gave a @#$% about bin Laden per se- he was a pretty lousy Muslim- but they saw no point in inflaming Muslim sensitivities unneccesarily.
Practically, I think we also wanted to deprive the World of Whackos of a shrine. So, over the side he went. I'm sure it was a solumn occasion for everyone on the Vincent. I just hope the sailors got to &*%$ on him first!
I'd rather they'd tied him to the back of a New York taxi for a few weeks and let the pigeons eat the pieces, but that's just me.
As for three different accounts, I don't see anything sinister in that. Stories are bound to "evolve" as more facts are known, and previous assertions get dropped. It's normal. In Investigation classes, they teach you to be suspicious when everyone's stories match up exactly, not when they vary a little.
Personally, I find the Obama Admin's lack of message control endearing, after listening to eight years of carefully coordinated lies coming out of the Bush propaganda machine. I'll put up with a little bungling and confusion- to me, it looks like a process where folks are trying to get the truth out, even if it doesn't make them look so good in some cases.
