Much too black, I would have to see his long form birth cert. What kind of a name is Herman anyway?

Think about it.

It probably is illegal to come out and announce you would discriminate against any human being. But, what would be the public outcry if they were discriminated against, because they were white supremacist. NONE!

Based on what I've read and heard so far, I don't agree with his politics.
Based on his bio that he gives on his web site, he has never held public office. Did wonders in the coca cola industry though and burger king.

I did see him qualify his statement, saying something to the effect that he would consider a muslim if they made it clear that they would put adherence to the U.S. government laws above their personal religion (which apparently dictates their laws/Sharia.) So I think he was attempting to make a statement that actually supports the Madison quote you gave above; he couldn't appoint someone who would mix religion & government. Anyway, I think it was an unfortunate impulsive comment he made and will probably cost him in the elections.

I like the man but doubt that I would vote for him for President (at least not now.) I favor Ron Paul.

This whole Sharia law thing is baseless fearmongering. It's completely ridiculous, and anyone using it to advance their political agenda should be ashamed.

But that doesn't make it a religion. The fact that the constitution expects the government to look past the religion, making religion a pre-requisite in the government is violation of that.

Does that not apply to Cain?

The fact that he is resorting to exception based on religion is disrespecting the constitution. Such requirements that religious beliefs be not be determining factor in governance doesn't apply only to Muslims, but to ALL.

out on top in that debate.

Didn't I say yes to it? What you don't want to touch now is the fact that making someone's religious beliefs as a requirement for candidacy is, targeting a specific religion, is disrespecting the constitution.

That's only if that is the reason TOLD to them. The POTUS doesn't have to say that, all he has to say is "I don't want to hire you". That's it. No laws broken.
