What supermarkets don't tell you is they've all ready priced in the cost of grazing, then complain when people do. So who's thievin' on who?
The ones doing the grazing. Were there no theft there would be no reason to "price it in". It is the same with any retail store in that the costs of shoplifting losses have already been priced in. Same with those who don't pay their mortgages, their medical expenses, hit and run car insurance scams, etc...the rest of consumers eat those costs. Dishonesty hurts everyone.
I've been known to grab a grape off the vine to make sure they are fresh, and partake in from the free sample stand a time or two, but I don't open boxes or packages.

In a more traditional store or farmers market, they would offer you a taste of the fruit to encourage you to buy it.
