Allow me to explain. Obama is Hawaii's favorite son. A democrat president from a heavily democrat state. Some of his big issues are creating green jobs, reducing American dependence on foreign oil, and reducing American CO2 emissions. Hawaii is perhaps the only state that could completely generate its own electricity from renewable resources. It is the world's bullseye for geothermal electrical production. Hawaii has the potential to make Iceland which generates 30% of its electricity through geothermal plants look like an amateur. The biggest thing preventing this is the protests of adherents of the native Hawaiian religion that even undersea geothermal plants would violate their religious beliefs. Surely someone as beloved by Hawaiians as Obama could make some headway on this issue thereby accomplishing some of his political goals simply through speaking engagements instead of massive spending. However, for whatever reason he doesn't do this. Why don't environmentalists protest this?

How and why is it Obama's fault that Hawaii isn't energy "efficient" like you want it to be?

Maybe some vengeful god lives beneath Hawaii's surface.

You are right, it's been under Democrat party majority for decades, and lots of people on the dole. SHOCKER!

Well as pretty much the most famous and beloved Hawaiian who ever lived pressure from him on followers of native Hawaiian religion to drop objections to offshore geothermal plants would surely have an effect. It doesn't cost anything, is a proven technology, and it would reduce the COL in Hawaii which hurts the lower classes the most.

Obama's never held political office in Hawaii, so I have no idea what you want him to do - spend all his time pushing state legislation?

At least you acknowledge he was born there, so we'll chalk that up as a victory.
