Here's a little clue for you. Rachel is not a journalist. She's essentially a politics Talk Show host, who brings to attention specific news/political stories and shares her opinions on them, while sprinkling in some facts, for good measure. Sometimes, the facts are not really facts, they're perceived facts or not-so-well-confirmed "facts".
