They also have the worst school systems in the country. So no, liberals are not that educated or intelligent. Otherwise they could taech a 12-year old to read.
Are you kidding me? The worst school systems in the country are in the red states, generally speaking.
Please provide a link. Also, we are talking about states, not individual districts.
LOL, no we're not. Reread the OP, he's talking about metropolitan areas.
Facts show that those liberal metropolitan areas have the WORST school systems in the country. Just look at DC, Chicago, Detroit.... all horrible school systems in all very liberal cities.... a point you cannot deny.
Maybe, maybe not. Just don't mistake "educated" for smart. There are a lot of people with college degrees that are still complete idiots lacking a shred of common sense.
The problem with poorly educated people is they don't just not know things but often they are so ignorant they don't even know how much they don't know. That leads low information individuals to think everything is much simpler then it really is, they then over estimate their own knowledge & abilities even though they discount or ignore what experts who actually know the details tells them. That's why they think even extremely complex problems or situations can be easily solved with "common sense" and why they mostly screw up everything they touch.
People who really know what their talking about tend to say less in general simply because they know how complicated something is so they don't want to make a mistake. Even in subjects they know little about they usually understand there is a lot they don't know so they're more likely to seek and listen to experts rather then thinking they can sort it out on their own with common sense and their gut feelings.

Last I checked the best school districts where in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Wisconsin, Northern Virginia, and certain wealthy coastal parts of California. None of those places are very conservative. What is conservative is the areas with the worst schools in the country as they tend to be mostly in the south especially the deep south.
Why do students score so much better in those areas? Usually standards are higher and more money is spent on education so there are more AP classes, longer school year's, fewer students per class, more tutoring or help for struggling students, more help with test prep, and generally just more focus on math and science. Compare that to some of our nation's most conservative districts who are still stuck in the 19th century trying to ignore science and instead teach students retarded nonsense like creationism. Those districts are almost always the lowest scoring in math and science because the anti-intellectualism of conservatives in general finds its way into how schools are run.

Yes, Detroit is one of the more liberal cities there is and it's not exactly the best educated. The more liberal California gets, the worse it's schools are doing.

Again, you are talking about entire states as opposed to metropolitan areas and cities. Stop skewing statistics to fit your dialogue. Large, liberal metropolitan areas typically have crappy school systems with very poor outcomes. Case in point, Detroit, DC, Las Vegas, Chicago, Memphis.
And, it's been shown that increased educational funding does not necessarily equate to better outcomes. We spend infinitely more today on education than we did 50 years ago (adjusted for inflation), and our overall world ranking has plummeted.
