Guy in the military uniform should know better than to be at a protest in uniform.

Perhaps the water balloons were to finally wash his nasty hair.

Malarkey. My generation may be slightly more nationalistic but overall it voted in droves for Obama, hardly a conservative.

And look what it got them. No jobs. Mounting student debt. Kids can't afford a clunker to get to work and if they could they wouldn't be able to afford gas. Hope and change a silly illusion he used to seduce the non-thinkers. Instead of wrapping up all wars, he started another one. Soon you'll have to pay for health care even if you don't want it (maybe mommy and daddy will help you).

You're generation is basely naive and bought his glib talk hook, line and sinker. They voted for him once, IMO they won't show up to the polls at all. Why do you think Obama is now demagoguing the GOP over the latino vote?

Default LSU Alum here

Thought I could share some light on the situation as an LSU alum who knows people who were at the actual event:

There was an original flag burning by another student (Isaac Eslaya) on the night of Osama's death. A student burned the flag that was at the War Memorial on campus causing a reported $7k worth of damage. LSU then reported him to the authorities and he was arrested.

Haas created a Facebook event with a planned demonstration to burn the flag in response to LSU turning the other student over to the authorities. The reason Haas didn't go through with the flag burning had little to do with the "angry mob" and more to do with the fact that he forgot to get all the proper permits. He received a permit from the school, but neglected to get the proper permits from the city as well. Instead of going through with the burning and risk getting fined or arrested due to lack of proper permits he decided to read a speech he wrote.

Essentially the summation of his speech was that he thought that the university was wrong in turning over Isaac Eslaya to the police when he (Haas) thinks it could have been handled internally by the university.

As for the mob chasing him that wasn’t necessarily the case. Haas was voluntarily moving around the parade grounds and the crowd was simply following him around. While the crowd did turn into a pseudo angry mob nobody ever touched Haas. Apart from a few water balloons Haas was unharmed. Once the water balloons started the police apparently suggested he be escorted off to prevent the situation from potentially escalating further. I think the crowd acted foolishly, but I can appreciate and understand their anger. At the end of the day the crowd would have been better to ignore Haas thereby taking away his voice.

Upon further consideration of the bloody checks and balances that determine what freedom is or is not ... may we entertain the very real possibility that an acute condition known as " Too Dang Much Freedom" exists amongst the good folks in the States !

Yes mates it may well be that a continued ridiculous amount of unbridled freedom could ultimately be our undoing ! Quite !

Freedom is a wonderful thang mates ... Far Too much of dat good ole thang is quite obviously becoming an exceptionally bad thang for the good folks in the States !

" National Pride" ... "Honor" ... & "Order" ... mixed together with just the right amount of basic freedoms and there you have the formula for a dynamic and formidable American nation ! What !

And now it be time to set sail with ole Capt. Morgan once again this evenin mateys ! Cheerio ! / Old Sgt. Lamar

The story, which is from Fox news, reads "Angry Mob Chases would be flag burner"

Weren't you the same person who chastised another poster who said he would resort to violence if someone insulted him? Didn't you say that people who became physical were uncivilized? I guess this rule doesn't apply to right wingers.

Hypocrisy or Irony?

Meanwhile, further North . . .

"He was denied hanging the flag up. And, he asked if he could just even hang it on his desk, and he was told no. He could take the picture that he drew and take it home and be proud of it there,” Girard said."
