Bush was a GOP president. You think Rice's "experience and contacts" helped him?
Rice is widely considered the worst NSA in our history, for her failure to prevent 9-11, her inability to get State and Defense to work together, and her failure to appreciate what a disaster the invasion of Iraq would be. She did slightly better as Sec of State (largely thanks to her assistant, Stephan Hadley), but by then, most of the NeoCon nutballs she let push her around during Bush's first term were in hiding. So was Bush, for that matter.
Mitch Daniels is a moot point. He won't run because his wife doesn't want their marital dramas held up for public scrutiny.
Should he run (which he won't), Daniels may very well be open-minded enough to choose a black, female, "pro-abortion" VP. Hell, the party may even approve if it thinks things are desparate enough. But "Shorty" Daniels and Condi Rice? I don't see the GOP base getting too enthused. Mitch isn't crazy enough for them and Condi's got too much baggage.

She happens to be an accomplished, single African American woman of a certain age....that does not make her a lesbian. The dating pool for women like her is quite small.

On the plus side, since her only discernible national security position is that the United States must prevail over the Soviet Union, she may attract the kind of conservatives who post around here who still see Communists under every bed.
