There's nothing new about teaching controversies in history class. Kids should learn our history, WARTS AND ALL. A lot of what I saw quoted in this so-called article as being "anti-American" was factually correct, if told from a non-American point of view.

Calling that treason is just retarded. Yeah, I said retarded.
I won't report you for calling me retarded but should.

I taught history long enough (28 years) to understand about the controversies but I also realize what those books are saying are nothing but anti-American and would have pointed that out to kids before stacking it on them. I was a liberal more of that period than not but I just didn't do things the way they are doing them today.

Conservatives would rather have propaganda taught instead of factual history.

Did you have a teacher going along with every thing in Mein Kampf? I didn't think so.

Learning both sides of the issues is what is important.
I am pretty sure that the name callers here didn't read much of that article in that they don't seem to think that Chavez and Che were nothing but anti-American but surely these people really do believe that anything that is anti-American with the other view is the way to teach a class.

I never tried to push either view as the view and many kids thanked me for allowing them to make up their own minds. I think that our progs need to take a peak at what is going on in Tucson and other places. However, most of them can't get the lib blinders away from their eyes.

Why don't you point out some of the factual history that la Raza and others like them point out? It would be much appreciated by me to have you do that.

I even taught facts when I was a very liberal Dem but never changed my method when the Dems left me by nominating socialists for President.

Why is this treasonous? It's a completely valid viewpoint.

And I remember that series of protests quite well, it was a big crock of BS.

Same exact thing happened in Phoenix last year when SB1070 passed, and continued to ditch school because they claim to do it "for their family", another thing I remember that during a protest some months ago over 1070 they had some little girl (had to be 5-6 at oldest) say that it would "affect her education". So it isn't surprising that they want little kids to say what they want, and they can get teenagers to do it if they pledge to ditch school for a day.

Now please don't get me wrong, I am a fervent supporter of LEGAL immigration, of playing by the rules and getting your Visa/Green Card. But good grief these kids are supporting ILLEGAL ALIENS (ie: Criminals)!

Trite, ignorant thinking, but typical of the left. My bright 6th grader knows more about black civil rights figures, native American tribes and now Mexico than he does the founding fathers of this country. I paged through one of his history books and Benjamin Franklin wasn't even mentioned. The left is very successfully directing the flow of education in this country.

You are so right about that fact. Rep to you for having the guts to tell the truth.
