Lets say for example he is running for the senate against a very liberal democrat in your state and you really want to unseat him. He is your ideal candidate. Very conservative, pro life, will vote to repeal obamacare, will vote for paul ryans budget, deficit hawk, pro gun, will cut entitlements, etc. He also won the republican primaries so it's either him or the tax and spend liberal.
One problem, he is an admitted racist. He hates blacks and refuses to associate with at all. He believes in segregation and the return to seperate water fountains, seperate schools, etc. He openly believes this but will not pursue this policy as an elected official.
So, would you still vote for him despite his personal beliefs on blacks and segregation?
It would all depend on who is calling the person a racist. If it was the left accusing a candidate of being racist, then yes, I would vote for them if I agreed with them on the issues because the truth is the left would prefer to constantly lob riduculously false accusations of racism against ANYONE who doesn't agree with liberal policies.
So in that case, absolutely I would vote for them.
Now if they were ACTUALLY a racist, that is a different discussion.

We wouldn't have elected officials if we waited for some miracle candidate with whom we agree with 100% of the time.
Even Obama supporters can name ONE thing they disagree with the guy about.

As I stated in the OP, they are an open racist. They openly admit themselves they are racist. Hope that clears it up for some people.
I don't know who that is but this question is theoretical, as far as I know no open racists are running.
Senator from Alabama. And yea....he's openly racist. But no, i don't think he's running.
