I used to watch Beck and listen to Limbaugh,Didnt agree with much they said but it filled a time slot and it was entertaining but after a while it just became redundant , boring and repetitive in its one dimensional topic of bashing all things Leftwing., same old every day,i was surprized these entertainers lasted as long as they did.
Limbaugh lost me when it became too obvious that his main mantra was controversy= money in the Limbaugh bank account.
Beck lost me when he started with the blackboards and treating his audience like a bunch of children/morons.
Thats a good one.. the reason Beck and Limbaugh and their ilk are losing their ratings isnt because the're boring media dinosaurs but its because in some way the left hates free speech
I'd suggest the fox audience is probably less than 1% leftwing, the reason they're losing ratings is because the rightwing fan base is losing interest.
[quote=wade52;19185125]It appears so. Audiences seem to be growing weary of incessant Obama-bashing and hyperpartisan spin. The 65 and over demographic still tunes in, though.
"First, here’s a snapshot that puts the shift in perspective: Just days after the 2010 election, the nation’s first all-conservative talk radio station, KVI in Seattle, switched back to a classic-rock format after 17 years. Its innovation had become media saturation—and music became an appealing alternative to the drone of a dozen Rush Limbaugh imitators.
Rush is a giant in his field, reaching more listeners than anyone in political talk, but even he has seen erosion in his numbers. Analysis of industry data shows that in market after market, Rush’s ranking has declined decisively over the past five years among advertisers’ coveted 25-54 age group. For example, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Rush fell from sixth to 12th between 2005 and 2010. In Portland, Oregon, he fell from fourth to eighth. In San Francisco, he’s seen a similar decline. Among listeners 65 and older, Rush remains No. 1. He can sell bedpans and resentment forever. But the demographic trend is not his friend."
Are you really sure that two left wing blogs are coming out with real truth or is there a chance that they are trying to convince people of what you want us to believe?

I was simply referring to the sentiment of this thread.
I think it's declining because whether left or right, people don't like radio that comes off as 'disingenious'...
Like when talk radio host get to the point where they even start criticizing the Presidents wife for enjoying french fries...I mean come on...talk about getting over frivulious...after while it just gets ridiculious...and is obviously done for ratings, for demographics, to appeal to a certain crowd, mentality...
but even those on the right can tell when their being 'played'...when their emotions are being played simply for ratings...
People, whether right or left, just generally like stuff that is genuine and relovant...
Talk radio, and the hooks they use to lure people, has simply started to become a charactiture of itself...a clique...a farse...
