Why support something like that?

Why not two states living side by side with defined borders?

Losers.
umm I support isreal and they should be more like Canada and the US we have the longest shared border in the world and we get along with each other and even look out for one another with NORAD

Yeah. But no one was using the term a few months ago and laughed when Beck brought it up.

Still waiting for some links to religious leaders in this country who spew the horrific words of wishing destruction of a whole population of people like are spoken by this Hamas cleric. From where does this utter hatred come and how are we to understand it? Who can defend this? How is this peaceful? Sounds like Hitler.

And there we have it folks; 13 posts until the Christaphobes come out with their attempt at moral equivalence. They're so predictable.

I certainly knew what the Caliphate was. Anyone who knows about medieval history in particular or the history of the Middle East and Ottoman Empire knows what it was. There have been pan-Muslim diplomatic conferences to re-establish a Caliphate through the years which have never gotten anywhere. I wouldn't say no one knew what the term meant.

Its just so......strange, the way "progressives" rally around the idea of the destruction of Israel. Israel, a semi-socialist state, where Arabs have citizenship and even serve in the government; where homosexuals and women have equal rights. Israel, a democracy surrounded by oligarchies and dictatorships.

Just strange.

This "cleric" would benefit from a study of history. Things never go well for those who try to annihilate the Jews.

In a nutshell, either Hamas is a legitimate representative of the Palestinian/Gazan population or not. If it is not, its actions do constitute terrorism but actions against it that cause disproportionate suffering among the general population are morally wrong.

Both the Israeli government and Hamas try to have it both ways in their own respective favor. Hamas wants the privileges of electoral legitimacy without the responsibilities, while Israel wants to deny them the privledges while holding them responsible for the responsibilities.
Very well put. In my estimation the Palestinian people have cast their lot with Hamas which effectively puts them in a state of declared war against the nation of Israel -- unless and until Hamas changes from their official "Israel must be wiped from existence" stance.

It's ultimately all just the next page in the story of the Muslim world's utter refusal to accept reality. They passionately believe that they can and will annihilate the nation of Israel. They've tried to do that and failed for over 60 years now. It ain't working. Accept reality and move on.

Consider that the greatest most important city in all Christendom for 1000 years was Constantinople. The Muslims eventually took that city and have "occupied" it ever since. Please note: Christians everywhere are not clamoring for the Muslim conquerors to "give us back our holy city." It's accepted that Constantinople is forever lost. Christians aren't ever getting it back. Christians have accepted reality here. Conversely, Muslim refusal to accept the loss of territory of Palestine is Islam simply refusing to accept reality. The reality is the nation of Israel isn't going anywhere. Accept it.

For their part, Israel needs to be a little less violent and destructive in their responses.

Isn't it also strange that Glenn Beck would declare his love for a nation in which socialists and "progressives" have played a major role and which has a welfare state way beyond the US or for that matter Britain, and which is gay friendly (and which has in Tel Aviv the wildest gay cruising and party scene in the world - Tel Aviv makes San Francisco look like the heart of the Bible Belt)

I think the reason why so many posters including myself aren't pro-Zionist is because US taxpayers' money goes to subsidize Israel. If not for the issue of US aid to Israel at a time when the US is basically broke there would be fewer Americans who would be anti-Zionist.
