Because with mandated coverage it often means less coverage of needs for the pool. Insurance is always about cost verus coveage. When a pool cannot actually have coverage management to get what the pool decides but has to cover mandated coverage they may not get the most for the cost. Then often such large pools require dedcution to cover the large sifeerence it pools wants with the same cost.Tke for example the mediacre trustees reportthat in 2012 unless chnaged that medicare will pay 30% of the average that private inurance pays for the same coded illness. What does that signify to you on treatment options?I certainly don't think they are goig to get the latest procedure at the top facilties;do you?
Because the insurance companies didn't tell them to!
Every state regulates health insurance. If you believe you have been wrongly denied the benefits you paid for, you can take your case to the state regulator. If you would like to sue your insurer in civil court, you may do that as well. If government refuses to cover your treatment, you're just screwed. Their word is final. That is why it's a death panel.

LOS ANGELES - The family of a 17-year-old leukemia patient said yesterday it would sue Cigna Corp. over her death, asserting the health insurance company's initial refusal to pay for a liver transplant contributed to her death.

"They took my daughter away from me," said Nataline Sarkisyan's father, Krikor, with tears in his eyes at a news conference at his lawyer's office.
The Philadelphia-based insurer had initially refused to pay for the procedure, saying it was experimental. The company reversed the decision Thursday as about 150 nurses and community members rallied outside of its office in Glendale in suburban Los Angeles. Nataline died just hours later.
The insurer "maliciously killed" Nataline because it did not want to bear the expense of her transplant and aftercare, said family lawyer Mark Geragos. He did not say when or in what court he would file the civil lawsuit.
Quit with the talking points on "personal responsibility". The courts are backlogged with civil cases like the above. Sad for the family. The insurnace company NOT the provider is casusing denial of claims. Doctors dont sit there with a damn calculator. lol.
you RECIEVE a SERVICE..you pay for the SERVICE RENDERED
why do liberals not understand personal responsibility
Why do Conservatives believe it's perfectly acceptable for health insurance companies to delay or deny medicare that ending up resulting a person DYING all in the name of PROFIT?
There is no way that a private health insurance health care system can EVER have the patients best interest at heart because for them PROFITS will always mean more than the best interest of the patient.

yes the insurance is denying the CLAIMS..or the PAYMENT
but they are NOT denying the service
FACTS are its "your body", your health, your BILL..pay the damn bill and quit being a leach on society
why do liberals think everyone else BUT THEM should pay for THEIR service, their BILL

First of all an insurance company can't deny treatment. They can refuse to pay for a certain treatment. But that's altogether a different matter.
Obama's death panels, on the other hand, will deny treatment. They will prescribe a one-size-fits-all course of treatment which medical providers will have to adopt if they want to be paid. As in England they will measure your life expectancy against the cost of a prescribed treatment and if they find that the cost outweighs the benefit too bad for you.
