I found this in Miami forum and thought what should the language of this country be?
Or do we need one? Or will there be more debates like this?

I think we cherish the freedom that our Constitution guarantees and let people speak whatever damn language or combination of languages they want.

Why? Si puedo, I have every derecho to speak spanglish si deseo.

Also I hate to break it to ya, but English itself is a sythesis of several different languages. Pick one: Norse, Welsh, Old English, French, Germanic or Latin and stick with it, dammit!

Based on what?

The predominate language is English, but people are free to speak what ever language they want.

Try a community college. They might be able to help.

This whole discussion is just a proxy for people to attack non-English speaking minorities, immigrants, etc.

What's the problem? Obviously they are in the process of assimilating. Their parents likely knew little English and their kids will know less Spanish.

English will always be the official language in our country. It is also the most common language used throughout the world.
