The polls that have been released for NY state show strong support for Gay Marriage in NYC. It might fail in Staten Island, and portions of Brooklyn, but overall it would pass in Brooklyn and NYC as a whole.
first of all some polls show it at 50% second of all the groups that are most likely not to speak to pollsters (Orthodox Jews (specifically Hasidim) and Russians) are much more likely to oppose gay marriage.
Second it would lose big in Brooklyn the only areas where it would win are the white (non Jewish areas) in northern Brooklyn (it would probably get max 30% in southern Brooklyn and 45% in Central Brooklyn) just so you know there would also be a high turnout in Orthodox EDs to oppose gay marriage (we have some of the lowest voter turnouts in the city) which there has not been for quite some time.

looking at community boards in Brooklyn how I would peg it
community board 1 between the hispanic (40% support for gay marriage max) the Chasidic (10% max) very well may overpower the Hipster vote in short I would say around 50%.
community board 2 there's still enough of a African American and Hispanic presence to prevent this from being a blow out (80%+) but this board will overwhelmingly vote for gay marriage.
community board 3 approximately 40% in favor of gay marriage.
community board 4 approximately 40% in favor of gay marriage.
community board 5 approximately 40% in favor of gay marriage.
community board 6 probably is a blow out in favor of gay marriage
community board 7 looks to be around 60% in favor of gay marriage Asians are the wild card in the whole situation
community board 8 approximately 40% in favor of gay marriage.
community board 9 approximately 35% in favor of gay marriage.
community board 10 approximately 30% in favor of gay marriage.
community board 11 approximately 35% in favor of gay marriage though this could move 10 point's either way depending on the Asian vote
community board 12 approximately 10% in favor of gay marriage
community board 13 approximately 30% in favor of gay marriage
community board 14 approximately 15% in favor of gay marriage
community board 15 approximately 20% in favor of gay marriage
community board 16 approximately 35% in favor of gay marriage
community board 17 approximately 40% in favor of gay marriage
community board 16 approximately 35% in favor of gay marriage

It must really **** people off to know that it will be legal in the future and there is nothing they can do about it because they will be dead.

Yes, in order to gain marriage equality we're going to kill the dissenters.

What it means is that the older generation who are largely the ones against marriage equality are going to be gone in another twenty years or so, leaving the younger, pro-quality generation behind them. And there's nothing they can do to stop progress.

Liberals are lying to pollsters.
The polls in CA were mixed, the polls in Maine showed a slim majority were in favor of legalization, and it failed narrowly. Likely the reason it failed in Maine was due to the vote being held in an off year election with lower turnout

However, overall since then legalization in the polls have increased by 10-15%.

In 20 yrs we'll look back and be ashamed at how we acted on this issue. Just as we look back on how we treated minorities years ago.

It will easily pass in Brooklyn. The Hasidic and Ultra Orthodox areas will be against it, but it won't be enough.

He means that when you break the polls down it is the younger generation 18-30 who are heavily in favor of gay marriage. Often polls show as high as 75% approval rating in this demographic. As we work our way up in age the approval goes lower. Eventually those people will die off and help push change along, like it or not.

Don't think so. I know gay people that think this whole gay marriage agenda is stupid. They don't care about the politics, they don't care if their union is sanctioned by the gov't, the state or anyone else. If I was gay, and demanded to be recognized, for whatever reason, I would pursue a legal union.
The gays won't stop with marriage, it's the rest of the push that makes us leary, such as this.
Quote:
A bill to make sure the historical contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people are accurately portrayed in public school teaching materials is wending its way through the California legislature.
This gives gov't another tool to wield against parents teaching their children their own morality and values. Parents are having their rights taken away, and replaced by the State.
Once gay marriage is sanctioned, there will be no reasonable argument to make against polygamy. How does that sit with you? I have no problem with the LDS, they seem to make it work. But it will turn our judicial system upside down. Islam sanctions polygamy, so then you have to recognize Sharia law too.
It's a big can of worms.
Unions okay, marriage no.
