Wrong. The Supreme Court ruled in Gitlow v. New York (1925) that the 1st Amendment, based on the 14th applies to State and local government. No government entity in the United States can establish a specific religion.

That was a horrible reading of it, then. 9 of the original states had official state religions. Do you honestly think they intended for that reading of the 1st Ammendment?

They just don't get it. Western civilization was built on Judeo Christian principles and philosophies. The far left is trying very hard to wipe that part of history clean.

Nope. States were free to establish a state religion. That's what state's rights were all about. You didn't like the religion or taxation in that state, move to one that you liked.

Yeah you're right, I forget which Constitutional amendment bans the worship of gods other than Jehovah but I'm sure it's in there.

Wrong. The West was nearly destroyed by Christianity during the Dark Ages. It was rebuilt and flourished under secular Enlightenment thinking. If you want to "flourish" under religion move to the Middle East, that's a bastion of freedom...or invent a time machine and travel back to the Dark Age. Or hell, go back to Colonial America. Just don't skip church or you might find yourself thrown over a cliff.

First of all, what Palin said has nothing to do with forcing anyone to worship anything. What she is referring to is sticking to the foundation that America and it's laws were created, which is Judeo Christian PRINCIPALS and PHILOSOPHIES. You know, like creating laws around the 10 commandments and the citizens actually practicing self responsibility. It has nothing to do with creating a state religion or theocracy.

Pure ignorance is all this is. America was built and designed upon Judeo Christian principles. All of our laws reflected the 10 commandments. That's why you still see those commandments posted at courthouses around the country.

Another thing. America didn't exist during the Dark Ages. So neither did the west. America invented the western way of life.
