Sure! People pay into social security their whole lives. The feds blow their money on other projects and now you want to deprive them of what they were promised.

If you do that, then it becomes a much larger redistribution of income than it already is.

I believe Medicare should be the basis of a single payer universal health care system without any private insurance required and Social Security should be expanded into a Federal Pension by applying the tax to all income from all sources and limiting payout to 3/4 of base pay without bonuses. Everyone would be covered so private pensions would not be needed. Any money collected from a private pension would be subject to Income tax even if it was below the 90th percentile exclusion.

Both systems would be on a pay as you go and not accessible to any other government programs. They would never be an “investment fund” of any kind.

I lean slightly right and I don't think we need to cut SS or medicare. There are a lot of other things we can cut. If we cut back on foreign aid and defense spending then we can free up a little more money for Americans. It makes no sense for us to drain our budget to support people outside of the U.S. when we are running out of money and people in this country aren't doing so well.

Its not a matter of if its when and now much unless the electorate is wilig to raise SS taxes alot.If not secured whe the intake does not eqaul outputs in the only fund by law SS is allowed to be taken from ;the trustees ;who just reported ;stated that it would be cut to 77% of payment amounts owed by law across the broard.I Feb 2012 Obama will be notifies of a crisis same as the last two preswidents as required by law.The presdient has to make recopmmendations to congress ;who can then deabte and take action or choice not to and kick the can down the road.

Default They are waiting for you to get older or die.

After 45 years or so of taking money out of the treasury in what most call a theft, what do you do with no money?
I think what they are doing is not letting certain things apply at 65. They are moving it to when you are older to not pay for a while and to hope more people die.

That seems what they are doing IMO.
