That's a right wing myth.

All of the greatest inventions were created on the premise of goodwill.

In fact, the profit motive prohibits innovation. Technology companies find it much more profitable to put emphasis on marketing rather than R&D. Companies only have to get a sleek design and a sophisticated package, and people will buy without knowing that there are products much better but don't look as good. Apple anyone?

You really think pharmaceutical companies put more emphasis on medical research than they do on sales for the products they market?

Last time I looked, the three countries receiving the most patents were, the United States, Germany and Japan.

None of these are profit driven countries.

The United States is a Christian country.

Japan and Germany are altruistically fascist countries.
