The wealthy paid over 90% of their income to taxes in the 1950s. That was when middle class families were actually seeing positive growth.
That was 90% on income over 300k.

Otherwise, i'm with you.

Okay, so you know that. But do you know how tax rates apply? I would like to see you explain that.

Who would want to earn more than $300K when you give away $.90 of every dollar you earn ? Earn $1.00 and keep $.30 of it ?

That's just crazy.

I wouldn't want to do it. 300k was a lot of dough back then, and we had war debts that needed to be paid off. Ike had no problem with it.

Right now, i wouldn't endorse a 90% tax on ANY amount of income. That's insanity.

Good point. Perhaps it is crazy to ensure that incomes in the top brackets don't keep multiplying at the expense of majority of America, like those crazy Europeans. Never mind the fact that $300K in the 1950s would be about $2.5 million today.

You still won't be paying YOUR fair share. Get it yet? You want to say the rich aren't paying their fair share when they pay way more than you do. So when are you going to start paying your fair share?

Since most of you posters obviously do not work, and have no intention of working, then the tax rate is, for said posters, rather moot.

I mean, how much can you make by posting on this board all day long?
