Is there anywhere in the USA that you can escape Christianity or conservatism and be mostly with atheists and socially liberal or independents the majority of the time?

I think of practicing Jews as a real minority because they make up 1% of the population. But the fact that Christians make up over 80% of the USA and their doctrine is relatively authoritarian and strict tells me I'm being lied to by a bunch of con-artists.
I think they are talking about the fundys. You know, the clowns who would love to impose a theocracy and turn the United States into Iran.

Here's hoping they remain in the minority.

All Christians are fundies unless they explicate and portray an independent philosophy.

Conservative Christians are in the small majority and have no influence. We are all much worse for it too. Here is proof at how little influence the Christian right has. Look how socially acceptable it is for a woman to have an out of wedlock child (or children from different fathers) and then go on welfare. Not long ago this would have been taboo, now it's acceptable if not celebrated.

Is that what it says in the bible or are you being sarcastic? How about we just don't reward that behavior financially.

No. I'm pretty sure she would be shunned all the same.

Agreed. Just forty years ago a divorce required up to three years to complete and you had to jump through legal and religious hoops. Marriage was taken seriously, but now that we've moved to a liberal scociety and made concessions and exceptions to long held beliefs, the Christian philosophy has been hijacked and diluted.

Apparently you've never been to San Francisco, Berkely, Long Beach on the Shore, North Hollywood, or Venice Beach. If you want to be surrounded by uber liberal heads in the cloud ideolgists... visit those cities and you'll be in bliss.
