Another factor at play here is that blacks and Latinos, who have underachieved academically for complex reasons, comprise a large portion of social conservatives in this nation. This is mainly overlooked because they are also majority liberal on fiscal issues.

Savoir, I am sure that you can't see Russia from where you claim you live. How stupid of you to say.

The average IQ today is 95 .... that's the average ... that means that 1/2 of the population is lower than 95.

We've got college graduates that can't read or write, and those stringent college requirements of days gone by have been reduced to requiring two things from prospective students ... a pencil, and some form of funding.

As for social liberals and their modern base philosophies, most of these philosophies are absent an iota of reason or common sense, and are responsible for the disaster we now find ourselves neck deep in.

We could collectively be defined as 80% leftists, the 40% viewed as representing the left so far to the extreme left, it gives the illusion that the other 40% are on the right, but they aren't. We have the extreme left, and then we have the left, which believes they are on the right.

And then there are the remaining 20% which wonders how we will ever survive this insanity.
Which universities graduate alumni that cannot read or write? If it's true it is indeed sad. I think for my generation (20 somethings) some identify with the left out of emotion or to fit in.

Ahh, gotta love the conservative "bumper sticker" intellect.

So, I guess the founding fathers were mentally deficient?

On the contrary. Open mindedness by its very nature necessitates higher intellectual ability.

Just to clear things up, the 'average' IQ is 100. Always will be. At least, that's what IQ tests used to be like, unless they've changed their statistical model for averages.

The average or median I.Q. is based on the collected scores of those tested ... not some arbitrary figure set before hand. And it's been dropping, and the signs seem all around us.

No, chickenfriedbananas is right. The average IQ is always 100 in the US - always has been (since the current method was put in place) & always will be (regardless of how many questions were answered correctly on the IQ test) - unless at some point they change the way it's calculated (which is unlikely). It's a FLOATING score - not a FIXED score - in a sense, sort of like grading on a curve where the average is ALWAYS a "C".. In an IQ test, WHATEVER the average number of correct answers is BECOMES 100 - and everything else flows up or down FROM that absolute average. Consequently 100 will ALWAYS be absolutely average - even if it means that the average number of correct answers is LESS this year than LAST year, the average IQ will STILL be 100 for BOTH years. The IQ score is simply meant to be a SNAPSHOT in time at a given moment, NOT to compare one year to another. The IQ average IS BY DEFINITION 100 in the US - ALWAYS.

It does equate to higher intelligence. It takes great rational thought and reasoning ability to have an open mind. However, it only takes animal like instincts to have a closed conservative mind.
