No no Nita. That's a conspiracy theory. Us conservatives are dumdums with torn strawhats, overalls, missing teeth, and have flies buzzing around us on the porch while we're playing on the banjo

Yet on every question the left did much worse. On the monopoly question, the portion of progressive/very liberals answering incorrectly (31%) was more than twice that of conservatives (13%) and more than four times that of libertarians (7%). On the question about living standards, the portion of progressive/very liberals answering incorrectly (61%) was more than four times that of conservatives (13%) and almost three times that of libertarians (21%).

Liberals are an historically parochial, small-minded, and opinionated bunch. Wasn't it Pauline Kael of The New York Times (that bastion of even-handed, unbiased reporting that every self-described liberal absolutely must read [or at least claim to read]) who upon hearing that Richard Nixon won the election was paraquoted as saying "I don't know how Richard Nixon could have won. I don't know anybody who voted for him!?

Your dubious theory is directly contradicted by the data on which political party the least educated self-identify as.

Look at the education levels and the R and D percentages in the chart at the bottom, here:
Democrats Gain Edge in Party Identification | Pew Research Center for the People and the Press

The least educated are FAR more likely to be Democrats.

Very interesting.

Also falls much more in line with the Pew Research findings I posted above. The truth prevails while liberal spin fails.

The straw hats? well we do see some of those, but usually not torn; overall, not many but lots of suspenderes, saw a guy at $ General (yep we have um) yesterday in black shoes, black sox and suspenders holding up his shorts. the missing teeth, saw that in NM where so many poor Democrats live and the flies; most of us can't afford big enough front porches for the flies and the banjos. Now, if ya all want a come for dinner next week, we got lots of fried pork chops and tomaters out of the garden.
