Cadbury is facing the prospect of a black consumer boycott after it compared Naomi Campbell to a chocolate bar in a new advertising campaign.
The supermodel – hardly known for taking things in her stride – is incensed that Cadbury used her name in the strap line to promote its new chocolate bar called Bliss, accusing the company of racism. The ad says: "Move over Naomi – there is a new diva in town." Naomi Campbell in race row over Cadbury chocolate - Advertising, Media - The Independent
i can see her being upset over their using her name in the first place to promote their product. but why the meltdown [hehe] over being referenced with chocolate? i hear/read blacks doing that quite often.

They should have known better than using someone's name without their consent. The fact that it is in regards to chocolate is just stupid. Now people aren't allowed to make references to people as white chocolate, milk chocolate or dark chocolate? Good luck with that one Naomi! You can't punch everyone!

Why would they need her consent when using her name in that way? They didn't suggest she was promoting their chocolate or anything like that There is not even a false product promise or insult as they are comparing apples with pears.

Do we know for a fact that her name was used without consent? I was looking for that in the article and didn't see it.
On an unrelated note, I have ZERO sympathy for her argument that it is offensive based on her race. Some black celebrities have used the word "chocolate" to refer to their race or skin for years, without any controversy at all... nevermind that the word has a positive connotation to begin with.
I don't accept this thinking that blacks are allowed to call themselves something, but no one else is. Anyone who takes that view, is not fighting a winnable battle.

I don't know if they needed her consent legally, but it would seem to be wise to get one. It avoids such things as this.
It's long over due for someone to kick her behind after the years of assault she's given to those she feels are beneath her. Don't judge a person by how they treat their equals or betters,...judge them by how they treat those beneath them.
Sounds to me like a washed up "super model" desperately wants a few more minutes of fame. She should stick to assaulting her staff, she's good at that.

Remember when Mayor Ray Nagin said......"We will have a Chocolate City Again". This obviously, was a comment for whites to not return. Wonder if she made any complaints then.
She seems to make news mostly on a negative note, seems like someone of her ability would do something thought showed us she really isn't a selfish "Super Model".
