Democrat failure is always a success for the United States.

You start a thread accusing republicans of the same thing that obama did in 2006.

Then why was Obama among the 44 Democrats to vote against a $781 billion increase in the debt ceiling five years ago, when he was a freshman senator? At the time, the debt ceiling was headed to $9 trillion.

"The president ... regrets that vote and thinks it was a mistake," Carney said.

He's nothing but a partisan hack.

There was never any thought it would pass. The Repubs brought to the floor in such a way as it would require 2/3 to pass. So obviously the Repubs were taking no risk. I think it would have been better for the Dems to point out a clear distinction between the Parties, that the faith and trust in the credit of the US, should not be toyed with.

How does the common man react to a short fall of money?
A. Borrow more money
B. Tighten the budget and pay off his current loans
C. Demand a pay increase and spend still more money
Well A & C seem to be what the fed does. party is not relevent.
Smart folks tighten up on their budget cut out the waste and pay off their debt. But then smart folks dont borrow themselves into a big hole either.

Interesting. Watch now..remember the House voted NO on TARP the first time and got a closed door visit from the Fed and Treasury and then changed their tunes and voted YES.

Let's see if anyone visits the House to have a cozy "closed door" meeting and then *poof*..the debt ceiling is raised.

No, he just wondered how many were Republican. Well, he can stop wondering now. No Republican, and half the Democrats (50.25%) voted for the bill.

The Repubs are now on record that they are content to tell the World, we may not honor debts we incur. I guess they think the American people will support them in that. The American people really aren't that dumb, yet the Repubs continue to rely on thinking that they are. Oh well....
