Did you know (obviously not) that America is still the leading manufacturer in the world?
The think that shrunk America's manufacturing base was the rising economies of Asia.
When you hire someone to do labor for you, do you look for the highest priced labor, or the lowest?
Do you build a factory where you will be crushed by regulations, unions and taxes, or where there are none?
It's not real complicated.
It's even simpler than you think. This is a fine example of where many/most of my fellow conservatives go right off the cliff philosophically and, more important, ethically.
Exporting jobs in order to exploit third world wages and unacceptable working conditions is akin to re-instituting slavery. And the damage it is doing to our once great country by funneling wealth overseas makes it treasonous as well as morally bankrupt.
That Republicans don't understand this - and wouldn't give a damn even if they did - profoundly empowers the left and is why they (Republicans) lost in 2008 and most likely will again in 2012 and beyond. Far as far into the future as they cling to this soulless mindset.
You want to live in a country with a third world standard of living and suffer more and more of the dismal and depressing agenda of the far left? Just keep thinkin' like you're thinkin'.
Corporations' Sympathy For The Devoloping World(Globalization)
Strange way to phrase it. Corporations don't have sympathy for the third world. They have greed and profit motives and short sightedness because all they see is the quick easy money they can rake in by having the dirt cheapest labor they can find.
Americans are viewed as deep-pocket consumers and nothing more, as chumps who will take out any amount on credit cards to buy foreign made stuff that was made very cheaply. It's all about money.

That will NEVER happen as long as cell phones, food, housing, clothing are mandated "necessities" for the poor in America.
Our OBESITY problem includes the majority of poor in America.
Most third world countries have problems with malnutrition, not obesity.
People in third world countries have no water facilities, no waste facilities, substandard electricity if any and are living in the streets.
Stop drinking the koolaid...the poor in America are RICH by third world standards.
its a combination of liberal unions, liberal fascist regulations, liberal fascist taxes, and liberal globalization that has caused the jobs to leave america
Then it must be only alarmism, falsehood, to claim the downward slide of the US? A country where YOU are worried about your contribution to SS ceasing to exist. Where does that worry stem from in a prosperous country? America's prosperity has been on the credit card it hasn't been and can't pay off in the foreseeable future. If you claim that the country is only going downhill, is it because the disparity is shrinking? Or, is the growth in disparity a result or a cause of such debacle?

The taxes on big corporations have been going down for the last thirty years. Regulations of business also have been dismantled since then, starting with Reagan. Our mean-spirited partisanship and mindless ideological warfare is making solving this problem next to impossible.
