Has pink commie socialist Obama has brought the highest effective tax rates in our history? Killing jobs and siphoning money from the rich and giving it to the poor?

No, the fascist right threatened to shut down the entire government unless they got 600 billion in new spending to extent their failed oh-so-precious tax cuts for the rich. Giant corporations paying nothing in taxes, supporting the communists by sending our much needed jobs to china and blocking every bill to stop them. Have done nothing to stop their outrageous spending besides proposing death panels for grandma,..Typical take from the poor and middle class and give to the rich tactics. They are disgusting.

Taxes are the lowest they have been in the US since the 1960's.

As Warren Buffet stated he as a rich person pays less taxes percentage wise than his Secretary does. President Obama has not raised taxes and extended the "Bush" tax cuts so I always wonder why the so called "rich" complain about them! I suggest firing your accountant first if you are paying too many taxes since those with higher incomes are afforded more deductions than some snot nosed teen working at McDonalds!

Obama is a chess player. He's set up a good end game. He cut a deal to keep the tax cuts for the poor and middle class permanent and only extended the tax cuts for the rich for another two years. Those tax cuts on the rich will expire just after the 2012 election, making them an election year issue. He gets to run on allowing tax cuts for the rich to end, which forces the GOP candidate to either agree with him or favor extending tax cuts for the rich.

It's a smart move.

*Sigh*, just because his out of control spending hasn't caught up to us in the way of higher taxes yet, doesn't mean that higher taxes aren't on the way. Let's also not forget that we are all effectively paying backdoor taxes as a result of the mass printing of money going on.

The funny thing is, taxes are lower now than they were under Reagan. The bottom rate is lower, and the top rate is lower. It's true, but the funny thing is that some GOP members just won't believe it. Which is more proof positive that they live in another world.

Effective tax rates are actually at the lowest level in almost a century. Anyone who says other wise is completely detached from reality.

I suppose one could also add how disconnected from reality the other party is by continuing to run up even more additional debt and making it inevitable that taxes will need to raised across the board with massive cuts in entitlements in the near future. One just needs to look at the other coubtries' financial probelms to see what awaits us.

If you are relying on most politicians (from either party) to keep this country solvent, you are seriously delusional. They are nothing but whores willing to sell out the country for contributions from lobbying groups, whether that be from big business or unions, and votes from coveted demographic groups.

Federal income taxes are at some of their lowest rates.

Federal payroll tax rates are (with the exception of a one-time 2% SS tax break) at an all time high.

State income taxes? Increasing in most states

Local property taxes, high and increasing

Sales taxes...what states have reduced them recently?

Just when is "tax freedom day" this year compared to past years?
