The global war on drugs has failed, a high-level commission comprised of former presidents, public intellectuals and other leaders studying drug policies concluded in a report released Thursday.

This is news?

I could have told you this 30 years ago!

The problem is no politician or group of politicians has the courage to really speak out on this issue and suggest we need to go in a different direction and treat drug abuse for what it really is; a social problem, and in some cases a psychological or medical problem.

But there is a hell of lot of money in allocating money to law enforcement agencies and prisions both public and private in locking people up for drug offenses.
