The Drudge Report carries a headline "O booed" among others related to President Obama's visit today to the Chrysler plant in Detroit.

But, if you read the linked story (which Drudge no doubt knows many of his readers will not bother to do), you'll learn the workers at the plant booed good-naturedly in response to Obama cracking a joke about the economy and their cars. Obama said the economy was so tough, a Jeep Wrangler would have a hard time getting through it.

So the casual reader is left with the deliberate false impression that the president was booed because of his policies.

Just another lie from the Drudge Report.

Drudge Report wouldn't know truth if it stared them in the face. I watched that clip
where Obama joked about the Wrangler, it was pretty funny.

I don't get the vitriol against Drudge. He is simply an aggregator, he does very little to no actual reporting.

I found the link on the drudge, it links to the politico story you posted, and he clearly was o booed 14 minutes into the clip.

The Drudge report makes NO comment about why he was Obooed.. Sounds like you are now lying about the Drudge claims..

Let's try this again... a little louder, beause it's important.

Drudge runs "O(bama) booed" right under a bunch of negative headlines about the economy, and his appearence before the autoworkers. AS I SAID, Drudge clearly intends for the casual reader (who probably won't click on the link or read through the article) to draw the conclusion that Obama was booed for some unstated (but no doubt substantial) reason related to his economic policies. This, it turns out, is not true. The workers were booing good-naturedly at a lame joke.

This kind of journalistic sleight of hand is a deliberate misrepresentation of the facts, even though no false statements were made by Drudge. It's terms of rhetorical argument, it's called "witheld evidence" (or, more colloquially,"hiding the ball"). It is a form of bad faith arguing- in other words, lying.

Get it???

Thanks for demonstating how important critical thinking and reading skills are to a free society. The fact lots of folks don't know how to use them explains a lot about the fix we are in in this country. Apparently, some folks can't even tell when they are being lied to (or maybe they don't care? )

But he makes up his own headlines which are often misleading.

He also "aggregates" stories in groups in order to push an agenda. He did it again recently with a slew of headlines about blacks committing crimes across the country.

Yes, he mostly aggregates, but it's obvious that he's pushing a particular point of view. If he wasn't doing that, no one would look at his website.

I agree he is pushing an agenda, but he doesn't write the stories. If people have issues with the individual stories take it up with the authors.

Who cares about headlines? I have seen misleading headlines in virtually every publication I have ever read across all political spectrums, that's why it is important to read the actual stories.

And as another poster pointed out, Drudges headline is factually accurate, Obama was booed.

Why do people quote Drudge as a news source? Same as they do with Limbaugh. They like what he says - truth doesn't matter, feeling good does. The disciples are the same low-rent bunch.
