President Bush said he wanted to fundamentally change social security, and that is a very American concept today.
The fact of the matter is we've been a socialist nation for at least the past 80 years, and people like it.
Actually, Social Security is a very socialist concept, not American at all. It is also just one more indication of the Democrat's sick entitlement mentality and their attempt to destroy everything that the US has stood for.

Yep....but entitlements are also the 3rd rail of politics. I mean, we need to make changes to programs like SS.....but good luck on doing it. Whoever jumps first (see Bush's attempt) will get fried by the OTHER side.
But, ho-hum, SS is going broke, will be regularly taking in less than it pays out EVERY year...so we have another bankrupt program.

It should never have existed in the first place, and should be completely abolished now. That will be an instant 15% tax cut by itself. For over 140 years the US got along just fine without that Ponzi scheme, and we can do so again. I have worked for over 40 years contributing into Social Security, and I do not expect one penny of what I contributed will be there when I retire in a just few more years.
The same is also true with the socialist MediCare/MedicAid programs, abolish them. With Social Security and MediCare/MedicAid gone that would reduce federal spending by 57%.
The absolute worst thing we can do as a nation is listen to these socialist fascists pretending to be "progressive" Democrats. That will destroy us faster than any foreign enemy could conceive.

Actually, the Supreme Court has proven me correct every time. The overwhelming vast majority of the laws the Supreme Court has tossed out as unconstitutional have been enacted by liberal freaks.
Just because liberal freaks choose to ignore the Supreme Court and continue violating the US Constitution at every turn, does not make the liberal freaks right, just fascists that should be shot on sight.
