Civil unrest would be great! Finally, many Americans will get the long awaited opportunity to shot at other Americans!
People could be making bombs and blowing up buildings! Wow, the whole country would be like an Arnold Schwarzenegger action movie!

Yes, it's possible, but do I think it'll happen? No.
I think the only thing that could turn people into scavenging wolves would be a breakdown of the electrical grid. Something like that would put us back into the 19th century very quickly.

I have always feared that something like a Second Civil War between the Right and the Left would occur and lead to the collapse of our country. Since the far left and the far right would be the prominent ones in a war like this, either side would probbably take away the freedoms today we take for granted.

Are you serious? Surely, you must know how dependent modern civilization is upon electricity for delivery of food and water......food to the stores where you buy it and water pumps that are run by electricity.

Ah, the gigantic elephant in the room which no one wants to discuss for fear of being branded a racist!

Of course it is not racist for one race to control vast areas of our cities with their culture of violence and thuggery; oh no! It is only racist to point it out.

Go figure.

That's fine, if you can do it, but countless millions live in cities and are totally dependent upon electricity to provide them with the basics of everyday life. And should such a meltdown scenario of the electrical grid ever come to pass, those millions will be streaming into the countryside to do battle with those who have prepared in advance for themselves. CD has a whole forum dedicated to Survivalism.

How come when Glenn Beck said this months ago it was called fear-mongering by the media? I don't see anyone calling Carville a fear-mongerer for saying the same thing.
The difference is somebody asked Carville. Nobody asked Glenn Beck.

Where is the tipping point folks ?
At what point do we really go over the edge ?
that was a good post to make people think.

we can't go on this way indefinitely. other countries have their own problems and won't be in a position to finance our external debt going forward. japan has been particularly hard hit with their earthquake (and their printing machine will be going into overdrive), and china is dealing with rampant inflation and ghost city building.

we cannot afford to fight wars, give foreign aid, help illegal immigrants, and support all of these social programs.

i see the supreme court ruled in favor of illegal immigrants today in another dose of non-reality:

In a win for immigrants rights groups, on Monday the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a California law that grants in-state tuition for illegal immigrants.

The court rejected without comment an appeal brought by out-of-state students who said it is unfair that they - as U.S. citizens - have to pay as much as $20,000 more than illegal immigrants to study at the state's colleges and universities. (yahoo)

i am surprised that more commentators/pundits aren't either seeing the boiling point or acknowledging it. (although dennis miller also mentioned it yesterday).
