As I recall, the Dixie Chicks were not criticized for opposing the war. It was their "I'm ashamed of Bush and ashamed to be an American" line that got them in trouble. That's a lot different than just opposing the war.

It's kinda like the old saying "I can say my wife is ugly, but if you say she's ugly I'll beat the snot out of you"
The quote was "ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas." just from the time the war in Iraq started. She didn't say she was ashamed to be American.

More than one media outlet has something to say about this story. Below, Breitbart quotes CNBC.

» Obama Wants American Taxpayers to Bail Out Greek Politicians and Dig the Debt Hole even Deeper - Big Government

Actually, if you look around the web, you'll find a sizeable number of stories relating to the OP, from a variety of sources.

One mustn't always automatically assume that simply because a conservative news source has carried or commented on an story, said story cannot possibly have merit.

We are broke..Plain and simple.
There's no B.Sing. it anymore but now were are bailing out the world? WTF
Yes yes I realize we have been doing this all along but times are different....WERE BROKE!

So we borrow money from China with interest and bail out the rest of the world which we will never get fully paid back....I doubt we will even get the interest payments back.

How about we just tell China to lend the money instead of us borrowing it?....You know why....Because they're not that FKING STUPID!
We are!!!!

And people out there are going to try and tell me the destruction of the U.S. is not coming..

Socialism/Liberalism/Progessivism is one big FKING failure and the U.S. taxpayer is on the hook.

I hear posts in response to this to read the Wall Street Journal.
The GREAT newspaper that looks at stocks and markets and banking trends.
Lets see we if I get this right.
We have no capital IE savings, which creates and helps with investment.
Since we the people have no savings and most of the money is in BANK BAIL OUT WALL STREET 401k retirement funds basically we are broke. WHY? Because the stock market is not money and even if the Federal Reserve wants to print more dollars it effects the purchasing power of the AVERAGE AMERICAN. Wall Street is not interested in what the government does as long as they let them continue to borrow and their banks get the money at 0% interest. Banks lose nothing and even if they did the federal reserve will just print the money and push the inflation to the American tax payer.
I think it would be best if the people asking for you to the read the wall street journal first read about the federal reserve system and the government corruption. How the Federal Reserve System with the Treasury Department and its chief work to help their banking friends and continue the ever expanding size of government because of the printing press. When government gets involved in housing and promises to back loans this was the first mistake. Let me ask you a better question how can the federal reserve bank bail out the banks within its own private banking instiutions when it can print free money. What you have here are banks with private bank owners who control the money supply and use the money supply for themselves. Debit creates interest on which is paid to the federal reserve to basically print fake money. I see Criminals in this system of which I am sure if audited would should how they paid of their buddies in the banking industry.
IF you want any kind of liberty and limited government you must first destory the printing press of the treasury department. The Treasury needs to print its own money again and remove the central banking.
The FED must be audited and criminals should be thrown in jail.
In includes most of congress for bailouts and anyone who voted to give banks moeny of which they just ended up printing and called it money.

I ask myself why there needs to be a monopoly on money to begin with, government or otherwise. Is it really necessary for the government to dictate what's an appropriate medium of exchange? It it necessary to penalize (tax) people for using other currencies? What is it about paper currency that makes it superior to trading bits of metal, pogo sticks, paper clips, or anything else that the market determines to be a good medium for exchange?

Well hell, according to the left leaners here the WSJ being owned largely by the same man or group that own Fox News would make them less than an honest source. Don't you see that?

Hold on there, many Americans have a problem with the Patriot Act. We don't all just blindly follow and "rah rah we're number 1" everything our nation does, regardless of what others would like to think.

See its real simple...Spend more then you bring in...You broke!
Don't need to be an economics major for that.
Well when the social security checks stop coming and the welfare checks start coming and the food stamps are reduced to a bowl of milk and the unemployment runs dry, then the mouth breathers will understand why we should not be giving Greece billions of dollars we don't have. We should be putting that money in an emergency fund for this current emergency.

Yes, that's true and as an American it is disturbing. Bush also made a comment about atheists not being considered "true Americans".

I agree with Kerrymac..the US as a nation needs to WAKE UP..we are being raped by the banks in every imaginable way...First, they took a program that was supposed to allow people with lower credit ratings to buy homes...and opened the floodgates and gave homeloans to people with out even doing ,or falsifying credit and employment checks!! When the bubble burst they started foreclosing with vigor but can't seem to come up with original loan documents that would support said foreclosures..and even tried to foreclose on a home that was paid for in CASH!!!! We bailed out the banks and they turned around and not only raised banking fees but paid millions of dollars in bonus pay to the people that got us in trouble in the first place.
I do believe that we should cut ALL foriegn aide unless it is for natural disastor assistance and that needs to be cut as well...Do not cut Defense spending until our soldiers are home. Close overseas bases not absolutely necessary for OUR National Defense. Close our borders, and send all illegal aliens and their anchor babies home. Heavily tax ANY COMPANY THAT OUTSOURCES WORK TO FORIEGN SHORES WITH NO LOOP HOLES..NO EXCUSES, NO EXCEPTIONS!!!. Offer incentives to business that brings work to citizens. Once we have gained a modicum of stability make everyone on any social program re-apply...except Veterans...they/I put their/my lives on the line to protect our freedoms. Put an income cap on Social Security..if your income without SS allows you to live at the same standard of living before you retired then you don't qualify for SS. Period. No changes to Medicare. I can not speak about farm subsidies because it is such a bureacratic mess. The only thing I can say is that if an investigation were to be done it would prolly uncover a level of fraud and back scratching that would rival the Banking Industry.
These are EXTREME changes.. BUT, our situation calls for extreme measures..IMHO anyone that doesn't see that has their head in the ground. To quote a movie...
"You want the truth?? You can't handle the truth!!!"

And this is for PAMKY: Please note it is not a personal attack it is my opinion, however, if you don't agree I do sincerely apologise if I offend anyone.

For what ever reason you are in Europe, if you are a US citizen, you have no business speaking hate for our country and giving opinions on our problems until you COME HOME and live our problems. I do not know your situation and in all respect to that I ask that you not speak in a negitive way about the US. I did not agree with ANYTHING you said in any of your posts to KERRYMAC...having said that.. if I had, you would have lost me when you said "back in the day" If the most current American news item you can cite is the Dixie Chicks then you are most certainly out of the loop and as such IMHO you have no right to voice an opinion on our CURRENT ISSUES. Please step away from the podium and sit down.

Now I have a headache, maybe my soapbox was too high.
