Democrats like to blame Bush for the recession. However, none of them bring up the fact that there was a robust economy during the Bush years up to 2007.

I'm a liberal also.

Indeed. Such as the private sector subtracting more than a million jobs while unemployment rate (a GREAT number to understand economy with) never went above 6%.

Well in hindsight we see it was a house of cards.

I like to ask the question why during times like the 90's is a free market great but when it does what it is supposed to do and correct itself it is a bastion of evil.

And I am never one to support the Giant conglomerates. I support the millions of small and medium businesses that create the jobs.

Yeah! Also, where's the recognition of the thousands of nautical miles covered by RMS Titanic before she hit that iceberg?

It doesn't fit the agenda.

I don't know how robust the economy was during Bush's first term. The events of 9/11, its impact on the economy, the subsequent war and its impact, overshadow whatever impact Bush's policies might have had on the economy during that first term.

How Bush handled 9/11 was a large part of his policies, many devised well before 9/11 came about.

Indeed. People seem to forget things like large layoffs in tourism (hotels and such) after 9/11. Airlines also suffered and dropped thousands of jobs, I wonder if anyone remembers the bailouts they received back then? To make things even worse, the "creative accounting" that went on in the 1990s was uncovered in 2002, at least a million total jobs were lost or directly affected as a result of that fiasco. Arthur Andersen alone had something like 100k employees that lost employment virtually overnight because that company's fraud, no way to count how many more people were affected locally. Similar story for Enron, HealthSouth, and MCI.

I'm a liberal also.

I have asked many posters who use the term, "Bush's 8 years caused ...." to give year by year stats and who controlled the houses of Congress.
None have ever replied.
