What made him think he has a shot?

Ever since he lied about his residency in order to get his kids into a better school, I haven't liked him.

There must be something there though, for the left to start hammering him.

It's MSNBC so it has to be studied to see if its a real story or just their usual yellow journalism. But if Weiner had been a republican , MSNBC would be doing this story to death and demanding he be lynched.
I'll give credit to Fox. They have used the Weiner scandal to their benefit but they were far more professional in handling it than MSNBC would be.
