Bernanke's gotten a free pass as well; his duplication of the money printing schemes which were an abject failure for Henry Morgenthau (Treasury Secretary under FDR) haven't been challenged nearly as rigorously as they should have been, with exploding prices for gasoline, groceries, and many commodities the inevitable result.
Democratic mortgaging practices are what crashed the economy??

How could these Dems sabotage anything in the face of Republican obstructionism and filibustering?? This means that Republicans have had their way.

The Republicans would be horrified if the economy improved before 2012.

Yes, and Democrats pretty much called the GOP stupid for saying there was an oncoming problem going back to 2002

Why dont you share with me a list of those fillibustered bills, that would have solved our economic problems.. I'll wait.. Because we all know that the GOP filibustered the stimulus bill, financial reform bill, the healthcare bill, etc and those bills never passed. Wait, yes they did..

Here's the key point that you are missing. Government involvement in the economy leads to a worse economy. Among nations, the US historically has had the least government spending as a percentage of GDP, and the highest standard of living. European nations as a group have greater government spending, and a 30% lower standard of living. North Korea, Cuba, Bulgaria etc. have near-total government control of the economy, and the people are hungry and have among the lowest standards of living.

Republicans know this fundamental fact; obstruction of government is the only rational course when so much of government is on a path to Europeanize the American economy. And it is not sabotaging the economy--it is saving it.

There might be room for argument about fine points around the edges, but Obama has presided over the biggest increase of government involvement in the economy in our lifetimes, massively bloating the bureaucracy to the detriment of we the people, our children and grandchildren.

You sound quite ignorant of the doings of Chris Dodd, Barney Frank et al as pertains to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Read up on it, and you'll be asking more intelligent questions.

So anti-trust laws, tariffs, trade strategies are bad? Let corporations devise the country's trade strategies and author their own regulations? Just let Wall Street do as it pleases - no regulation? This is the new global market doing its thing. Businesses will happily compete with no collusion - right...! Wall Street and its bailout has nothing to do with the economy...?

I'm suspicious of a vague statement like this. What bloat didn't exist previously, for instance? We the people? Our children? Something this vague and platitudinous sounds more like a Rove/Murdoch election tactic, something straight from Fox.

The failures of these are known. My response was to the question of was what crashed the ENTIRE economy. Fox placed the blame here, right?

Very often times they are. You act like there isnt re-percussions involved

Now your being ridiculous because no one suggested such a thing. But tell me why you trust government to set the strategy, or more precisely, those who are able to buy influence?

Businesses would love to compete, but its government who creates the collusions currently. You seriously cant be unaware that this is taking place, are you?

Not a dam thing. In fact Wall Street and its bailout has boosted the economy and helped the taxpayer profit from the actions which took place.

It sounds like you dont want to discuss facts, but would rather throw a temper tantrum against Fox..

What crashed the entire economy is money freely flowing and mortgages being sold that should never have been made to begin with. This wouldnt have happened without government guaranteeing now 95% of all mortgages in america. Continue with your "Fox" temper tantrums though if it makes you feel like you said anything of value because you didnt.

Does anyone remember when the new group of republicans who campaigned on getting jobs to the American people and once they got in they said that they were not doing anything until the Bush tax cuts are passed? I consider that to be very self serving, since they all make over 85,000.00 a year and all of their (family and staff) healthcare needs paid for by the taxpayers of course.

Which bring to mind, why does the taxpayers pay for the top of the line health insurance for the politicans? All of them are capable of paying their own insurance from their own salaries like the rest of us. One more thing, why are they given the power to give themselves massive pay increases while working less time than a student is in school? This is an additional kick in face considering they are the ones who approves war and the amount of benefits that our veterans get but yet the military only get a max of 3% increase in salaries to protect this country. Maybe the politicans should be paid based upon the ACTUAL work that they do (bills created/passed ect) just by making these few changes the government can save millions dollars. Does anyone know if their healthcare is covered after they leave office? If so this must stop!

Neither the refuticans or the dumbocrats will ever bring this up in order to save money or balance the budget! This only proves that they are only looking out for their own best interest.
