Sorry but no, Reagan was moderate, he expanded the GOP voter base.
A new Reagan today would be moderate and would expand the GOP voter base to Blacks, Hispanics and gay, on a fiscally conservative program.
I don't hate Sarah, but she's not appealing to independent voters, and too socially conservative.

Doubtful. There are many conservatives (myself included) who do not like Palin; she flies of the handle a little too much. She has some good ideas, but the messenger should be acceptable and trusted by the public.

Considering that Ronald Reagan was particularly uninformed about issues and facts; and willing to make things up to suit a narrative, there are similarities.

By 1980s standards, Reagan was a conservative. By today's standards, he's a moderate.

Eisenhower was considered a moderate in his day but would be considered a hard-core liberal today.

It's just a further indication of how far to the right the Republican Party shifted. Today, Barry Goldwater would be considered a mainstream Republican. In the 1960s, he was considered very conservative among Republicans.

What MTAtech said.

Both were highly attractive personalities that believed anything they told themselves. Fortunately Raygun is dead and we only have this latest iteration of demagoguery to fear.

No, I don't see Sarah Palin as "the next Ronald Reagan".

There are millions of Left Wingers who utterly despise her. I don't remember that the level of hate the Left had for Reagan rose to this same level.

Say what you want about Reagan, he brought a different set of ideas to Washington and changed the way many thought about the role of government in society. Palin is simply a parrot for right wing talking points. Sarah Palin is no Ronald Reagan

Reagan was not a mean-spirited, divisive person. He wasn't a pot-stirrer and when he spoke people trusted him. Even Democrats like him even if they didn't always agree with him. Palin couldn't be another Reagan in a hundred years.

"If it takes a bloodbath, let's get it over with"_________Reagan's remark about antiwar demonstrations at Berkeley, about a month before Kent State.

Mean spirited and divisive enough for me.
