Nah just someone that has always openly embraced anything that interests me, stigmas be damned. I played sports all through school, played DnD with the nerds, played sports with the jocks, wasted endless time in video games with dorks, and did your standard young'n shenanigans with the resident skaters and loosers. I crossed a lot social boundaries when I was young.
If you can't see the parallel between the obsessions and just because one is widely accepted what is 'normal' and the other sits on the 'fringes' I'll restate - blissfully unaware
Oh I can definately see the parallels. I would consider myself a sports fan but not to the obsessive level.

I think I have been coping well with the possibility of not having the NFL playing AAARRRRRGGGHHHH this year. I've learned to find my safe AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH place and snuggle with my nerf football.
I believe the OP was probably trying to start something by throwing in that "crime will go up" comment and posting it in the politics and controvercies forum instead of the Sports forum.
And that will probably be the result: soccer will finally regain status as a major sport in the US.
I'd be pretty happy about that... but it's still doubtful it will happen that soon...
