Siplin’s Low-Riding Pants Bill Gets Beat-Up – Central Florida Political Pulse – Orlando Sentinel

Quote:
The Florida NAACP and allied organizations Friday opposed Orlando Sen. Gary Siplin’s bill to ban schoolkids from wearing their pants too low, saying it could lead to more legal trouble for black male students.

NAACP President Adora Obi Nweze called it a "clearly discriminatory bill."
"In essence, it will criminalize the wearing of saggy pants and thereby provide a new avenue of interaction between young people and the criminal justice system," Nweze said.

"The House version of the legislation (HB 335) has been amended to remove the potential penalties but allowing principals to issue warnings for sagging pants. The groups said they support that measure."

Yeah, OK. That will definitely provide a deterrence measure...

From the article, you would think it was as much of a cultural right for young black males to wear sagging pants as it is for muslim schoolgirls to wear burqa's.

Haha Its funny...for all you people talk about the "erosion of our rights" but as long as YOU don't like it then its fine to kick the guy off the plane.

If his pants had been truly down to his knees and he was exposed then why not arrest him? Or did the aircrew just not like how it looked?

We all know that there are no white kids who sag their pants. NONE.

Oh wait, it's becoming a hipster fashion trend. In 5 years it will become "socially acceptable" for white people to do just like with nearly every other black fashion/music/artistic trend. 10 years ago these hipsters would have been called "wiggers"... how times change

Good for the airlines! I'm so sick of these idiots showing their butt cracks and their pubic hair. Who wants to sick next to a thug who shows his not-so-privates?

It's a stupid style, it looks ridiculous, and men who dress like that would never in a million years get a date with me...but hey, if they want to look like idiots that's their choice, and they shouldn't be forced off a plane because of it unless they're actually exposing themselves. Supposedly, it was just his boxers that were showing, not his crack or pubes (LOL!), so I think the airline kicking him off was harsh. If it were a buxom woman wearing a plunging neckline with half her bosom hanging out for all to see, somehow I don't think it would have come to the same end...or a fit, young girl with a pair of those extremely short shorts that are back in style again...

I don't sag my pants but I do wear baggy jeans. I always get stopped, too. Both ways, going and then coming back. Last time I got the pat down and scan thing...

shirt untucked that was 8 times as large as it needs to be and working boots with laces not tied
