How can we believe that congress really wants to cut the deficit and unneccessary spending when they have perks like this at tax payers expense which the cost is hidden from tax payers.

You should see what kind of gyms and golf courses taxpayers pay for on Air Force bases
I remember going TDY to Ft. Campbell. The Army had built brand new dormitories. The AF declared them substandard and I got hazard pay.
The differences between the branches are extreme. The food sucked on Army bases.
Navy builds a new base. They built the piers, ship support facilities, and then asked for more money to build barracks and recreation centers. Air Force builds a base. They built the golf courses (one for enlisted, one for officers, and one for visiting politicials), enlisted and officers' clubs, apartment buildings, health clubs, and then asked for money to build the runways.

LMAO, so true.
I get asked all the time by people "what branch should my child go into?"
I ask how smart they are first, then depending on the answer I say Air Force or Navy.

I was on the USS LaSalle AGF-3 when we were about to do a joint forces exercise to test the communication abilities of the ship (back in the mid90s). Officers and enlisted of the other three branches came on lard for the exercise. The Army and Marines adapted quickly to the ship life. The Air Force guys were seasick while the ship was tied to the pier on a calm day. They expressed dismay at the size of our coffin lockers (so named because it was part of our rack which in some ways resembled a coffin) and that 100 guys had only one tv to watch and only two channels at sea (both played video taped recordings of tv shows or movies). They moaned, groaned, complained, and threw up the whole time. Even the Army and Marines took to eating sardines or smoked oysters to make them more miserable.
