Pawlenty's super-rich tax cuts - Yahoo! Finance (http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Pawlentys-superrich-tax-cnnm-3409270497.html?x=0&sec=topStories&pos=6&asset=&cc ode - broken link)=

When are Americans going to wake up? The top 1% of the rich are anally raping them! But Americans must like being sodomized in some sick twisted way because they keep taking it! Especially all you idiots voting for the Republican "conservatives". I guess that $200K+ the rich save is going to trickle down back to the middle class in the form of jobs right? LOL yeah right! Idiot partisan voters who keep panding to the left and right! BOTH are in bed with the rich elites who've hijacked our country and subverted democracy and capitalism.

So, you propose people earning over 200K not being allowed to keep their money...and that they should pay more to pay for services for others who are not paying as much? I assume it is a crime for one to want to keep the money they worked for?

This reader comment says it well! The idiocracy of the American tax system.

Didn't any of you pro-Pawlenty folks go to college? There is a very good reason for a progressive tax system where the rich pay more. Family A makes $75K/year. They spend $70K per year on basic needs (food, shelter, gas, etc.), leaving them $5K for discretionary spending. Family B makes $750K/year. They still only need around $70K/year for basic needs (but probably spend more), leaving them $680K for discretionary spending. Family B buys boats, planes, expensive houses, and probably invest some money at only a 15% capital gains tax rate. Is it fair to tax the money family A spends on basic needs at the same rate as money family B spends on the fancy boats and planes?

From the article...

Meanwhile, Americans in the lowest 20% of income would see their taxes drop by an average of only $23, a 0.2 percentage point change in their tax rate.

The lower 48% of income earners pay no tax. If they have income withheld, they will get a refund. If they play their cards right, they can get MORE than their refund.

Put another way, Americans who earn between $40,000 and $50,000 a year will see their after-tax income increase by 1.7%, while Americans who earn more than $1 million will see a 24.1% bump.

If this is true - look at it this way. You want progressive tax rates? You get progressive tax cuts. It's only fair, right? Does it make sense to have progressive tax rates and flat tax cuts?

And just a reminder - tax cuts helps, but there is more to be done. Cut spending. Cut corporate taxes.

Services have a cost. Costs are not dependent on difficutly in paying...so rates should be the same. Family A and B should pay same %. You are mixing points. Capital gains can be from invested moneys, with an ability to loose or gain.

Pay attention.............I'm talking about....the top 1% of the population who is who is raping the middle class. $200K a year is middle class. So yes just like those making less they deserve to keep more of their money. Do you actually understand how filthy rich the top 1% of this country really is? Doesn't sound like it.

Rich people do not stuff their money in a mattress. They invest and buy stuff - driving the economy. Somebody has to build those boats and planes and houses. Investing in companies allow for increased capital for growth, which in turn, allows for an increase in job rates. Penalizing that activity, especially on the corporate level, you stifle that growth, and jobs get outsourced.

Sorry someone making $50 million a year should not be paying the same in taxes as someone making $35K a year or even $200K a year.

The issue is that most of our politicians are quite wealthy themselves, run in elite circles, and have enough kowtowing buffoons who blather about "producers" and "stimulating the economy" that they can get away with this kind of stuff.

At some point the disparity will become too much, but Americans have a high tolerance for abuse as long as there is entertaining stuff on television to distract them.
