And that first number is misleading. For example, if you drink a beer and are sitting at a red light and somebody rear ends you, that is an "alcohol related accident".

MADD has totally brainwashed the public into thinking this problem is much worse than it really is.
Whatever...I do trauma and have seen over 50,000 patients in my short career...nearly every single serious/fatal accident I have seen has been alcohol/drug related...

You can thank the cell phone for most of the rest.

People using cell phones are also impaired, I agree. And if a person is using a cell phone and drinking well...

What about playing with the radio?

Or talking to another person in the vehicle?

Or eating?

Or putting on makeup?

Or???

All are possibly impairing their driving....

Works for me. I was once in a driving safety class to get rid of a ticket. One guy in there admitted to changing clothes while driving.

Should all be banned do you think?

Why is it so hard for people to understand that being in charge of navigating a 3000 pound mass of steel and fiberglass at high speeds in three dimensions is a ton of responsibility?

I enjoy just drivin' my damn car. I love it. I get a kick out of driving my car. Get a car you enjoy...then maybe you won't have to make up other fun activities to do along the way. There's no effin' reason for it and you are responsible for the lives of those around you. Grow up and quit being selfish.

We shouldn't have to ban anything. Maybe we should just be more selective about who gets to drive in the first place.
