Wow this isn't California. What true southern woman needs an anti-groping Bill? You touch a woman wrong here in Texas and she'll respond by punching your lights out or kicking you in the groin and that'll be the end of that.
The end for whom? If a woman did that to a TSA Agent, she would be locked away.
So here's the deal. The issue was revived due to people calling in to Perry's office, and the belief that the majority of votes are there for it to pass.
Isn't Texas a major hub for air traffic, both passenger and cargo? Good luck with closing them down, Feds.
I think you are gazing at the situation through the wrong end of the binoculars. If the Feds close them down, Texas will no longer be a "major hub for air travel".
This came up in another thread - but Perry is reviving the TSA Sexual Assualt bill in a special session - and I think the bill would require only a majority of votes.
Political posturing or the real deal - we will see.
Texas Gov. Perry Adds Popular Anti-TSA Groping Bill to Special Session (http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/politics/7938-texas-gov-perry-adds-popular-anti-tsa-groping-bill-to-special-session - broken link)
The Lt. Gov. (Dewhurst) was probably responsible (IMHO) for the original bill's demise.
This isnt leadership from Perry- it's election-year pandering. I don't care if everyone in the state of Texas is demanding this bill. It's unconstitutional, unneccesary, and a colossal waste of prescious time and resources. It is Perry's job to act responsibly with your scant tax dollars, not bow to majority rule.
No wonder your State Legislature only meets every other year. I don't know who Dewhurst is, but it sounds like he ought to be in charge.
I had heard Perry wasn't very bright, but he can't be this dumb (can he??? )
I think you are gazing at the situation through the wrong end of the binoculars. If the Feds close them down, Texas will no longer be a "major hub for air travel".
And then all the air traffic will be diverted to other major hubs and overload them. Cargo and passenger flight delays? Potential lost dollars in the economy because of the inefficiency? Then again I wouldn't put it past these idiots to do just that, they're already raping our economy without a care in the world as it is.
