I seem to have missed where Obama indicated we need to "defeat" the Taliban. I don't recall even GW saying that, but hey, show us the light.
So...the point of the Obama surge was to not defeat the Taliban?
Perhaps it would be better to know what the goals of the Obama surge were??
Now don't get me wrong,if the troops were needed to win it was a good idea to send them...and I do think more US troops were probably needed as our NATO allies weren't all pulling their weight over there, not naming any nations....Germany cough....cough....

No, it was not to defeat the Taliban, you got it. It may help you to find out what the goals of the Surge were, rather than just spew anti-Obama stuff.
You are displaying something you probably don't want to display.

"To disrupt, dismantle, and defeat al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and to prevent its capacity to threaten America and our allies in the future."
He identified the objectives that the United States will need to achieve in support of this mission. "We must deny al Qaeda a safe haven. We must reverse the Taliban's momentum and deny it the ability to overthrow the government. And we must strengthen the capacity of Afghanistan's security forces and government, so that they can take lead responsibility for Afghanistan's future."

It seems the goals were to defeat Al Qaeda and to weaken the Taliban to such a point it was unable to defeat the Afghan government.

So...all that has been done huh?
To you that means "defeat the Taliban"? It must be the new foreign policy training at Beck Univ, I missed out on that.
would be better if we did the progressive liberal thing and just sterilized them
actually that was the conservatives that did that... and it lasted until 1974 when forced sterilization was ended.... but that is for another thread...
