Anyone who thinks politics does not play a role in science no matter what the topic or position is very naive.

If you want an example we can start with NASA and Dr. Hansen who heads GISS. Even some of the proponents of AGW distance themselves from him. He's been arrested at an enviromental protest and once compared coal trains to Nazi death trains. No politics or bias there at all.

None of this has anything to do with the facts of the science. Again, if you actually understood what science is, you'd know that no one scientist asserts that anything is scientifically factual. Something is only considered scientifically factual after years of peer review and validation testing.

There is NOTHING political about scientific fact. Again, it's not suprising that you don't understand that.

"Maryland has become the first state in the country to require students to be "environmentally literate" in order to graduate from high school.

Today's vote by the Maryland board of education requires that students get a "comprehensive, multi-disciplinary environmental education" before receiving a diploma. Districts will have to develop plans for coursework that meets state standards in environmental literacy and have their plans approved by the state superintendent of schools. They will also have to develop ways to assess students' mastery of the material in order to determine if they are eligible for graduation.

The action today follows a decision by the board last summer to require that students get a bigger dose of environmental literacy than they had been getting in typical science classes. There was some confusion, however, about whether that action actually made environmental literacy a graduation requirement. Today's vote was intended to clear up that confusion and make the requirement official.

Maryland is fast becoming a liberal lioony state. We were able to stop their gay marriage push and looks like we're going to put a pause on their attempt to give illegals in-state tuition. However I expect more zaniness to come from them.

This is the same woebegone state which launched a 'miilionaires tax' a couple of years ago in search of more revenue, and watched that revenue pool collapse by 30%.

Guess the inmates are still running this asylum, aren't they?

or providing equal marriage rights

I swear, half this state is indeed full of "liberal loonies" who think high corporate taxes are good (they're not; a major defense contractor recently chose Virginia over Maryland), high income taxes are good (they're not) and lax prison sentences for violent offenders are good (they're not), but the other half is full of rednecks who oppose gay marriage, probably would vehemently oppose any legalization of marijuana, and think the Chesapeake Bay is just a large toilet.

I've got Maryland pride but **** me we could really do without about 90% of the population

Nothing wrong with this. There have been several huge environmental issues in the news and it's already discussed in the better science classes.
