How many Americans do you believe use marijuana and by that are current users?

Not someone who used it i the past and now no longer does.

Almost everyone I know uses even though I don't myself so if I was just going by my social circle it would be approaching 90% but I'm going to be modest and say about 40% of America's population uses marijuana.

Less than 5% (probably closer to 1%) if "using" means once a month or more frequently.

"According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, in 2009, 16.7 million Americans aged 12 or older used marijuana at least once in the month prior to being surveyed, an increase over the rates reported in all years between 2002 and 2008. There was also a significant increase among youth aged 12-17, with current use up from 6.7 percent in 2008 to 7.3 percent in 2009, although this rate is lower than what was reported in 2002 (8.2 percent). Past-month use also increased among those 18-25, from 16.5 percent in 2008 to 18.1 percent in 2009."

Three hundred or so million Americans over age 12???? My 5% WAG isn't that far off.

Naw, its above the single-digit percent mark. All the Medical Marijuana states and Cali having the biggest population, along with the other states as well as the ease of marijuana creeping into mainstream media yeah its probably 30 - 50% plus

The percentage is rising I think. Everyone under 25 that I know smokes at least occasionally or is very tolorant of anyone who does. And many people older than that do too obviously. Even my ex who is 56 partakes occasionally since his midlife crisis hit and he thinks he's 25 again. LOL

Most people aren't "stoners" though. I know one person who takes a hit at night to help them sleep. I pop an ambien and really don't see the difference. When pot is legal it will replace some other drugs that people use now.

If pot ever becomes completely legal, a certain amount of people won't smoke it anymore because it isn't "taboo" - not fun - not sticking it to the man.
